Bese-Elements®

Biodegradable mat for ecosystem restoration

Biodegradable ecosystem engineering elements are 3D structures made of potato starch. They are used for habitat improvement and serve as a starting point for ecosystem restoration.
BESE-elements® are also used to stimulate the recovery of dune vegetation, shoreline and reedbed vegetation, submerged aquatic vegetation, fish habitat, mangroves, coral reefs, natural filtration systems. It is a temporary and protective structure for organisms, facilitating their establishment in order to restore the ecosystem.

Benefits

Stackable 3D matrix (single sheet elements nested together) made from potato waste and derived starch biopolymer.
BESE-elements® provides structures for attachment, reduction of local currents and waves, stability, shelter and protection from predators.
Environmental benefits:
  • Ecosystem restoration (e.g., shellfish reefs, mangroves, seagrasses, salt marshes, wetlands)
  • Habitat creation (i.e. fish, shellfish habitat)
  • Aquaculture

Features

  • Dimensions: 922 x 455 x 20 mm
  • The Solanyl biopolymer: certified as EN13432 (industrial composting) according to TÜV AUSTRIA OK compost
  • Stackable 3D matrix (single sheet elements nested together) made from potato waste and derived starch biopolymer.
  • Biodegradability depends on environmental conditions.
  • Dear
